Frequenty Asked Questions

What kind of power does the mud logging unit require on location?

We require 3 - 120 volt legs of AC power @ 60HZ for our laboratory to function properly.

Can I view the mud log on a smart phone, tablet, or Mac?

There are currently no native apps available that allow MainLog to run on those platforms. You can, however, view the mud log as a PDF document. Please let us know if you require us to generate daily PDF files of the mud log.

How do I get daily mud log Reports?

Our Wellsite Technicians send out mud logs in the MainLog data format via email. To open the mud log, you must install the free MainLog Viewer.
To get your daily mud logs, we will need the following information:
     - We will need an email distribution list for those approved to view the well.
     - We will also need to know at what frequency you wish to be updated.
     - Please include any other special instructions or need along with the distribution list.

** Please note: daily updates and the frequency of them is dependent upon the cellular and satellite networks. Stivers Consulting, Inc. is not responsible for service outages, terrain, or atmospheric disturbances that affect these networks.

How much lead time do you need to log a well?

We are currently scheduling 2 - 3 weeks in advance. If you have an emergency come up, please call us and we will do our best to accomodate your project.

What information do you need to begin scheduling?

Please send us as much information on your project as possible:
  • API number
  • Estimate on the timing
  • Drilling contractor & rig number
  • Depth that you would like the Mud Logger to come on at
  • Proposed total depth
  • Detailed Prognosis if available
  • Driving Directions

Can you add gamma ray to the mud log?

The answer is yes; simply email us the LAS file and we will import it to the mud log. Please let us know in time so we can include it on the final prints.
** Please note: ELOG curves can also be added to the mud log at your request.

How do I reach Stivers Consulting, Inc. after hours?

To reach us after hours, simply dial our office number (940-549-6275) and listen to the message on our answering machine. The message will give you the phone number of the on duty technician.

How many final copies of the mud log will you send?

Five color copies of your mud log are included with the price. Please let us know if you need more. We can also send copies directly to well partners at an additional fee. Please see your written bid for details.

Dry samples

One set of dry samples is included with every well. Please let us know in advance if you need our loggers to collect more than one set of dry samples. Additionally, we can collect a larger amount of cuttings upon request.

Wet Sample Bags

We do not provide wet sample bags. Normally this is covered by the drilling contractor.
